IAG has agreed to buy some of Aer Lingus’ slots at Heathrow from Ryanair as the latter looks to take over the Irish carrier.
The company, parent to British Airways, has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Ryanair to buy the slots if its takeover is confirmed by the European Commission.
In the deal BA would operate services between Heathrow to Cork, Shannon and Dublin under the current schedule for the next three to five years, according to the Irish Times.
In addition Flybe may operate some of the other routes that both Ryanair and Aer Lingus currently serve on.
The measures are the latest step from Ryanair as it continues with its bid to buy Aer Lingus, five years after its initial try was stopped by the EC.
