Iberia has almost tripled its seats to Johannesburg during the World Football Cup in South Africa this summer. Additional capacity will reach 170% by June and July, which is currently up 60% this month. The airline currently makes five return flights each week from Madrid but has implemented another flight each day. In the middle of the tournament there will be 10 per week. Most of the flights Iberia will operate using its largest and newest aircraft, the 342-seat A-340/600. Under code sharing with local carriers, Iberia passengers can fly on from Johannesburg to three additional South African destinations: Cape Town, Durban, and Port Elizabeth. In addition, tickets purchased on the Iberia website before 30 September will earn double the normal number of Iberia Plus frequent flyers points.
