Ice World, Asia’s biggest indoor ice event, returns to the Venetian Macao next month.
Following the inaugural event in 2011, Ice World returns from 19 May to 16 September 2012, transforming the CotaiExpo into a 1,670m² indoor ice hall, which will be cooled to -8ºC.
Divided into 10 zones, the event will feature a range of ice sculptures, a frozen waterfall and lake, an ice maze, slide and a musical hall featuring an iced piano, guitar, pipe organ and drum set.
“We are delighted to bring Ice World back to Macao again,” said Gene Capuano, Vice President of Convention & Exhibition Operations at the Venetian. “About 230,000 people visited last year, averaging about 1,600 visitors per day. To meet popular demand, we extended the exhibition period for an additional month to allow more people to come and see the fantastic display of ice sculptures, and to cool off during the hot Macau summer. With completely new attractions this year, we know that both residents and tourists alike will enjoy the spectacular universal appeal of this unique showcase of ice-sculpting artistry.”
The event will be staged with assistance from the Heilongjiang Provincial Ice & Snow Art Development Co, which hosts the annual International Snow and Ice Festival in Harbin.
Ice World 2012 will be open to the public from 12-8pm daily, with a general admission price of MOP100 (US$12.30).
