InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for South West Asia. Chris Moloney will spearhead IHG’s operations in India, playing a significant role in building the development pipeline, which currently stands at 45 hotels. IHG currently operates 12 hotels in key cities and is setting its sights for 150 hotels by 2020 and the new COO has been brought in to strengthen the group’s portfolio which includes the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and the recently launched Holiday Inn Express brand.
An IHG veteran, Moloney has over 30 years of hospitality experience, having worked in various countries including France, USA, UK, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Egypt in different positions. Most recently, Chris served as the Chief Executive Officer of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan.
Commenting on his India assignment, Chris Moloney said; “I am excited to be in India where IHG has had a long history. India is one of the most important growth markets for IHG, and to be here in India at a time where the country is enjoying favourable economic conditions and strong growth is a great privilege.”
