Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed 18 new hotels to its portfolio during the summer months. Properties will open in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, Russia and Turkey in the next few years as part of an expansion plan. “It’s encouraging to see that we’ve been able to maintain momentum with our growth strategy across Europe and around the world,” said IHG’s President for EMEA Kirk Kinsell. “As a business, we have continued to invest in the things that we believe make the biggest difference by strengthening our brands, increasing our scale and working more closely than ever with our hotel owners.” Hotels to open in 2012 include three new boutique style properties: the Hotel Indigo Newcastle; Hotel Indigo Madrid Gran Via and Hotel Indigo Lisbon Baxia. In addition, Staybridges Suites Edinburgh is set to open next autumn, while Crowne Plaza Istanbul Harbiye Turkey will open at the beginning of the year. Meanwhile a range of Holiday Inns will open at London Commercial Road; Newcastle Jesmond and Darlington A1 Scotch Corner. An additional eight Holiday Inn Express hotels will open across the UK, Turkey and Germany, including locations such as Manchester City Centre MEN Arena; Nuneaton and Birmingham South.
