InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed an agreement with Thailand-based property group, The Platinum Samui Co., to develop the first Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express hotel on Koh Samui.
The Holiday Inn Resort Samui Bophut and the Holiday Inn Express Samui Bophut are 15 minutes’ drive from Samui International Airport, on a 40,000 square-metre plot in Fisherman’s Village.
They will be part of a mixed-use development on the Bophut beach, which also comprises The Wharf Samui Community Mall, a low-rise retail market cluster.
Holiday Inn Resort Samui Bophut will feature 150 resort-styled rooms which include specially designed KidSuites and Family Suites. The family resorts off ers a Kids’ Club a “Kids Stay & Eat Free” programme.
Next door, the 200-room Holiday Inn Express Samui Bophut has direct access to the beachfront walking street, plus food and beverage outlets and retail stores are close by.
Clarence Tan, senior vice president, development, Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA), IHG, said: “Thailand currently has our highest number hotels in South East Asia and we are looking to almost double that in the next three to five years.
“We anticipate a strong percentage of them to be travelling to popular resort locations like Koh Samui.”
These two new properties will put us in good stead to be able to cater to guests across all segments when Holiday Inn Express Samui Bophut opens in 2017 and Holiday Inn Resort Samui Bophut in 2018.”
