InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of InterContinental Phuket Rawai Beach Resort.
Designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, the resort will be a redevelopment of the former Evason Phuket and Bon Island. When the renovation and redesign is completed in 2014, the resort will feature approximately 240 rooms and villas set among 18 hectares of tropical gardens facing the Andaman Sea.
“Having already established our Holiday Inn brand in Phuket, we’ve been looking for the right partner and right opportunity to add a luxury resort offering to meet the demand on the island,” said Jan Smits, CEO of IHG Asia, Middle East & Africa. “We… are looking forward to the InterContinental Phuket Rawai Beach Resort in 2014.”
IHG currently has 14 hotels and resorts in Thailand, including three in Phuket, but the company said the new InterCon resort would become its flagship property in the country.
