Tourism officials from India and the Seychelles have held a series of high-level talks regarding the enhancement of tourism cooperation between the two countries.
A delegation from the Seychelles, including minister of tourism & culture Alain St. Ange, arrived in Delhi recently to discuss ways of developing bilateral tourism ties.
As a result, both countries have agreed to hold roadshows to promote tourism in each other’s country, as well as launching both agent and media fam trips.
The two parties also agreed to consider the launch of new direct air links between the Seychelles and India, in an effort to boost tourism flows. And there are commonalities between the countries’ aviation sectors – both Air Seychelles and India’s Jet Airways are part-owned by Etihad Airways.
Other areas of potential cooperation and growth that were identified in the meeting include medical tourism, museum curation and creative services, and the Seychelles sought India’s help in these fields.
The Seychelles delegation also invited India’s tourism minister, Shri Shripad Naik, to visit the Indian Ocean islands in October, to attend the India Day celebrations. Approximately 7% of the Seychelles population has Indian origins.
