India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, has promised passengers that airfares will come down next year, as airlines pass-on fuel savings to the consumer, The Times of India has reported.
“Things should stabilise in another month or so and we are trying for rationalisation of taxes on fuel. Airlines, both full service and low cost, are going to reduce fares from next year beginning,” Patel told The Times.
Airfares in India have risen up to 50% in recent months due to high fuel costs.
