Indonesia to set up US$1 billion ‘green fund’

Indonesia, which is aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 26% by 2020, plans to set up a US$1 billion fund to invest in renewable energy projects and water treatment to address the effects of climate change. According to a Bloomberg report, the government will contribute US$100 million to the ‘Indonesia Green Investment Fund’, with the remaining US$900 million being invested by external sources, including other government and private companies. The fund will be established later this year, the report stated.
