An international zoo is being planned in Mumbai.
The Maharashtra state government has acquired 190 acres of land in suburban Mumbai for its proposed international zoo. Plans are also afoot to develop hotels and entertainment facilities in the area.
“This project will come up in Aarey Milk Colony in Goregaon and will be executed on BOT (Build, Operate and Transfer) basis. Hotel and entertainment facilities will also be encouraged in the project,” state’s forest minister, Patangrao Kadam was quoted as saying in Zee News. The project will be designed on the lines of Gorewada zoo project in Nagpur.
