An opposition party to the Irish government has called for an investigation into the claims made against Ryanair by a recent Channel 4 documentary.
The Fianna Fail party has issued proceedings against Channel 4, the programme makers and the former pilot who featured in the documentary, Mail and Mirror newspapers.
The party’s transport spokesman Timmy Dooley has told broadcaster RTE the party is looking for an investigation into the claims, which raised safety concerns.
He said: “It is in the public interest and the interests of the airline that we get to the bottom of what has been reported. I believe the airline could benefit from cooperating with an investigation to clear its name.”

Last week Ryanair started legal proceedings against Channel 4 for the documentary that aired earlier this month, having already sacked the pilot who appeared in the programme.
