Irish/UK joint visa for Gulf tourists planned

Plans for a joint visa to UK and Ireland are being explored, according to Irish tourism chief, Neil Gibbons.
The chief executive of Tourism Ireland told Zawya that inbound tourism from the Gulf region to Ireland stood at 55,000 in 2015, with Emirati visitors accounting for 20% of the figure.
“We expect a 10% growth in Gulf tourism into Ireland in 2016. We are keen on keeping a stable growth rate of Gulf tourists in the next five years,” he told the news service.
Ireland is currently coordinating with the UK on plans to release a joint tourist visa this year, allowing Gulf travellers to visit the two countries.
There are also plans in place to increase the annual number of Gulf tourists to Ireland, Gibbons said, particularly considering the strong air links between the countries, with both Etihad and Emirates serving the country.
