Following a successful 2016, which included being awarded UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status, Isle of Man Tourism has released its Visitor Guide for 2017 with a continued focus on its outdoor and nature offerings for the upcoming travel season.
With a refreshed design that highlights the Island’s beauty and targets families and active adventurers – without alienating traditional visitor markets – the new guide responds directly to the Destination Management Plan (DMP) released in February 2016.
To support the launch of the new guide, a new visitisleofman.com website has been launched to UK and International markets, providing a more interactive interface complete with dynamic features which provide more opportunities for companies and series to update their content. A key feature is the itinerary maker, which allows users to select activities they want to do on-Island and create their own schedule, as well as picking from pre-packaged itineraries – making visiting the Island easier than ever before.
2017 will see the Tourism Department continue to highlight natural exploration for all ages, including:
- The introduction of family friendly itineraries and a new Family Welcome Scheme that will make it easier than ever for families to visit the Isle of Man and tailor their trip.
- An increased focus on ensuring the Island is viewed as a year-round destination with a focus on the outdoors, fresh air and wealth of nature as well as an array of events that will keep families returning
- Showcasing short break options, with suggested itineraries to help visitors make the most of their trips
The website will also provide first-hand looks at the Island through blogs from visitors. One notable inclusion is a post by explorer Ray Mears who has been working with the Tourism team to promote just some of the highlights the Island offers for families seeking outdoor adventure holidays.
