The famous Jagganath Temple in Puri, Odisha will soon go green.
The temple will switch to solar power with Kolkata-based solar module-making firm Vikram Solar installing a 30KW solar power facility on its premises. The project is part of the initiative of Odisha Renewable Energy Development Authority (OREDA).
The temple’s current daily consumption is 80kW per day. As per the agreement, Vikram Solar will extend full service support to the temple management committee for the next 15 years. It will be responsible for supplying the solar photovoltaic modules and other associated equipment, including installation and commissioning of the facility.
