Jakarta plans 14% rise in tourist arrivals

Jakarta is targeting 21 million tourists in 2011, up 14.3% from the 17.5 million it attracted last year. The city’s Culture & Tourism Agency as saying that it wants to welcome 19 million domestic and two million international visitors this year.
“We’re optimistic we can reach the target because there will be big events this year,” local news portal kompas.com reported agency’s head, Arie Budiman, as saying, with reference to the 2011 Southeast Asian Games and an expanded conference calendar.
