Japan Airlines (JAL) has rolled out a Boeing 777-200 aircraft painted with a special livery to mark the carrier’s environmental projects. Named the ‘JAL Eco Jet’, the B777 is decorated with the logos of various environmental projects to which the JAL Group is lending support. The aircraft, which will fly on domestic routes from Tokyo Haneda, is the third incarnation of the JAL Eco Jet. The first was introduced on domestic routes in 2008, and a second was launched on international routes the following year. Both Boeing 777s were painted with a green-tailed version of the airline’s usually red ‘Arc of the Sun’ livery.
Now, one of the two Eco Jets has been repainted with the airline’s new ‘red crane’ livery, with additional logos of the UN Decade on Biodiversity, the Sanriku Reconstruction National Park Initiative and the Tohoku Cotton Project.
Additionally, from 13 October to 30 November 2011, JAL will be distributing packets of Swamp Chrysanthemum seeds to all passengers.
