Japan Airlines (JAL) and Iberia today finalised a codeshare agreement on flights between Japan and Madrid via Europe. Effective 24 February 2011, JAL will start to codeshare on flights operated by Iberia between Madrid and two of JAL’s European destinations – London and Frankfurt.
Up until October last year, JAL offered customers a connection from Tokyo (Narita) to Madrid via Amsterdam, by placing the ‘JL’ flight code on Iberia flights between Amsterdam and Madrid. The codeshare arrangement was however suspended when JAL terminated its direct service to Amsterdam in October.
JAL’s flights to both Frankfurt or London are operated using a Boeing 777-300ER. Reservations and ticket sales for the codeshare flights begin tomorrow.
Both JAL and Iberia are members of the oneworld alliance.
