Japan Airlines (JAL) has reported reduced losses in the first quarter of fiscal year 2008, CNN has reported. The figures for the April-June 2008 period say JAL lose JPY3.4 billion (US$31.3 million), compared to JPY4.2 billion (US$38.6 million) in the same period 12 months ago. JAL puts the improved figures down to use of smaller aircraft and flying more efficient routes.
Passenger demand however, fell during the quarter. International passenger numbers dropped 5.1% to 2.94 million, with domestic passengers down 0.7% to 9.96 million, year-on-year.
