The JAL Group has requested government approval to reinstate the fuel surcharges on all international passenger tickets issued from 1 October 2009. The surcharges will range from JPY300 (US$3.16) for routes to Korea, up to JPY10,000 (US$105) for the Japan-Brazil sector. The carrier has based its decision on the rise of Singapore kerosene prices to an average of US$71.41 per barrel in the 3-month period of May to July 2009.
