The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) rewarded its top selling travel agents with an all-expenses paid trip to their annual end of year gala dinner at The Moon Palace, Ocho Rios.
Named the ‘All White Affair’ due to its dress code, the five-day event recognised the top 50 selling global agents based on bookings made in the calendar year and who logged onto Jamaica Rewards.
The group, which included five UK agents and their guests were flown in Club World on British Airways to join the top performers from the USA and Canada.
The weekend included a welcome reception, optional tours around the island and culminated with a gala awards banquets hosted by Tourism Minister the Hon. Edmund Bartlett, who individually recognised all the UK top sellers, joined by the Jamaica Tourist Board’s regional director UK and Europe, Elizabeth Fox.
The agents were also joined at the gala by this year’s Miss Jamaica, Davina Bennett, who came third in this year’s Miss Universe.
The five UK travel agents attending the White Affair were: Bill Munro – Barrhead Travel; Northampton; Elizabeth O’ Neill – Tui Corby; Nathalie Trim – Tui Wood Green; and Joanne Stewart – Blue Bay Travel; and Laraine Drage – Travel Counsellors.
Drage said; “I was wowed by the White Affair, felt very proud to be one of the top 5 UK Travel Agents and to be acknowledged for this. Jamaica is a beautiful island and I shall without a doubt continue to recommend and sell the island. The Moon Palace Hotel was the perfect hotel to host such a great event. Thank you to all involved”.
Bartlett added: “This year has been one of our most successful ever as increasing numbers continue to visit our beautiful island and experience the warmth and pride of the Jamaican people.
“From health & wellness; music; romance and gastronomy, there is a variety of offerings to suit every visitor. The support of our agents is really important to make sure that these factors and much more are being sold in the right way to their customers”.
