More than a fifth of Brits will look to book a holiday this January to cheer themselves up, according to a new report published by Jet2holidays.
The survey of more than 2,000 people was commissioned by the package holiday specialist for it’s ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ campaign.
Over a quarter (26%) of those surveyed said they are feeling ‘down in the dumps’ this January. The most popular causes for feeling blue include the cold and wet weather, darker nights with reduced sunshine and bank balances being left worse for wear after the party season.
However, 48% of people are determined to do something positive with more than a fifth (21%) looking to book a holiday to cheer themselves up.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “For two-thirds of people, having a beach holiday to look forward to will help them feel motivated. This is reflected in the fact that January is our busiest time of the year for holiday bookings. We take great pride in offering our travel agent partners a fantastic choice of 51 dream destinations. And with 2016 being our biggest summer yet, with our first flights jetting off to brand new destinations Girona (Costa Brava) and the Amalfi Coast, I’m sure we will continue to put smiles on our customers’ faces!”
