Japan approves carbon trading scheme

The Japanese government has approved a carbon-trading trial allowing companies to set their own emission-reduction targets. Bloomberg has reported that companies will be free to trade on a negotiated basis. The government will hold seminars nationwide to explain the trial. Japan is the world’s fourth-largest polluter.
