A Japanese company has developed a life-saving device to protect people from another tsunami. The new floating capsule, developed by Cosmo Power, is made of enhanced fibreglass strong enough to withstand disasters like the 11 March tsunami that devastated Japan’s northern coast. As the tsunami warning sirens wail, residents will be able to climb into their life-saving capsules and float away.
The Associated Press reported company President, Shoji Tanaka as saying that the capsule can hold four adults, and that it has survived many crash tests. It also has a small lookout window and breathing holes on top. In the years between tsunamis, it also can be used as a toy house for children, he added.
The company has already racked up 600 orders for the device.
