Japan, Hong Kong emerge from recession

The economies of Japan and Hong Kong are the latest to have emerged from recession, providing extra hope that the worst of the global economic downturn have passed. According to a BBC report Japan recorded growth of 0.9% in the April-June quarter, following four consecutive quarter-on-quarter contractions. The economy of Hong Kong meanwhile, registered growth of 3.3% in the same period. Singapore, Germany and France also emerged from recession during the quarter.
