ANA and Garuda have formed a new partnership aimed at boosting traffic between Japan and Indonesia.
The partnership, which was announced in Jakarta this week, will see the two airlines open new routes between the countries and codeshare on each other’s domestic flights.
From 30 March 2014, ANA will operate new route between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, with Garuda planning to launch the same route a short time later.
In addition, ANA will place its ‘NH’ code on a maximum of 10 Indonesian routes operated by Garuda connecting from Jakarta to destinations including Yogyakarta and Bali. In return, Garuda will be able to place its ‘GA’ code on ANA’s flights to 11 Japanese destinations from Tokyo Haneda, Narita or Osaka Kansai airports. These will include Sapporo and Nagoya.
“We are pleased to announce our partnership with Garuda and look forward to working together to bring our customers greater choice and convenience across our combined Japanese and Indonesian networks,” said Osamu Shinobe, president & CEO of ANA.
These new Haneda-Jakarta flights will increase the total number of weekly flights operated by the two carriers between Japan and Indonesia to 53 – 14 from ANA and 39 by Garuda.
