Japan will start issuing multiple-entry visas to individual Chinese citizens later this year, in a bid to receive a greater share of the burgeoning Chinese outbound market. Kyodo News reported that Japanese Foreign Minister, Seiji Maehara, has already discussed the scheme with the head of the Japan Tourism Agency, Hiroshi Mizohata, and that it is likely to be implemented by summer 2011. Only last year Japan cut the annual income requirement for Chinese citizens applying for tourist visas from CNY250,000 to CNY60,000 (US$37,800 to US$9,000).
