The under-construction Tokyo Sky Tree has risen to become Japan’s tallest building - and it’s only a little over half finished. The Japan Times reported that the new TV tower in the city’s Suminda Ward reached a height of 338 metres on Monday, surpassing the height of Japan’s previous tallest edifice, the 333m Tokyo Tower. On completion in 2011, the Tokyo Sky Tree will tower 634m above the city. As well as broadcasting facilities, the tower will include observatories, restaurants and shops.
