Jetstar launches Cairns-Auckland flights

Jetstar today begins a new direct service between Cairns and Auckland. The flights will operates three times a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays), departing Cairns at 5.30am, and returning from the New Zealand hub at 6.30pm. The new services will deliver more than 55,000 seats each year between the two cities.
Jetstar Chief Executive Officer David Hall, said; “According to Tourism Research Australia data, New Zealanders spend on average AU$2,073 (US$2,190) when travelling in Australia. Based on this statistic, Jetstar’s new service has the potential to generate up to AU$40 million for the local economy each year.
“We believe this new international Jetstar route will be a welcome benefit for Queensland tourism during its recovery from recent significant natural disasters,” Hall added.
Auckland is the 11th destination to be connected to Cairns via the Jetstar network.
