Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar has launched an interline agreement with Air Canada that will allow customers to connect their Jetstar domestic or international service with travel to or from destinations such as Vancouver, Toronto and Quebec City.
The new interline and ticket settlement agreement builds on Jetstar’s growing base of 11 interline airline partners established over the past twelve months that include Qantas, Etihad, Air Calin and Royal Jordanian.
These international carrier relationships provide seamless booking and ticketing opportunities for customers and the travel industry giving more choices to combine a Jetstar flight into itineraries.
The agreement between Jetstar and Air Canada gives travellers greater flexibility to combine travel on Jetstar and Air Canada as part of a single booking process through travel agents.
Air Canada’s services to Australia connect to Jetstar international ports such as Sydney and Honolulu and will introduce fresh access to and from Canada and other destinations under the arrangement.
Jetstar Executive Manager Commercial David Koczkar said the agreement between Jetstar and Air Canada will enable Air Canada’s customers to gain access to Jetstar’s large domestic networks within Australia and New Zealand and its wider Pan Asian network.
“Through our growing interline and GDS partnerships, customers planning travel across the Asia Pacific region are now better able to tap into the Jetstar Group network when determining their travel itinerary to or from Europe, Asia, the Middle East - and increasingly North America.
“The ability for customers to now choose to connect through or have a stop-over in Hawaii when travelling between Vancouver and Sydney with Jetstar and Air Canada as part of a single booking is both financially beneficial to our airline and also provides new access opportunities for inbound visitation to Australia, New Zealand and beyond from Canada.
“Customers are now obtaining even greater flexibility, convenience and choice of destinations when travelling Jetstar.”
To celebrate the new partnership, Air Canada is offering a special fare between Vancouver and Sydney, with a stop-over in Honolulu on at least one-way. The fare combines travel with Jetstar and Air Canada. Low season fares start from just $2,410 including taxes and charges. The fares are on sale until 30 April for travel until 31 December 2010 and must include one stop in either direction. This fare is available through travel agents only.
Jetstar remains ticketless for non-interline transactions through the GDS, while interline itineraries are e-ticketed on the stock of Jetstar’s interline partners.
