Low fares leader Jetstar has announced it will increase its double daily service offering between Singapore and Hong Kong by an additional two additional weekly return services on the peak days Friday and Sunday from 14 May 2010.
The new mid morning service on Fridays and Sundays will meet the strong demand for low fare short breaks between the two cities.
The new services to Hong Kong come as part of Jetstar’s previously announced capacity growth of 46 per cent over 12 months and follows the recent announcement of increased services between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.
As a result of this growth, Jetstar’s fleet will number 10 A320 aircraft by mid this year.
Jetstar Asia / Valuair Chief Executive Officer Ms Chong Phit Lian said additional capacity to Hong Kong was part of the carrier’s strategy to increase its footprint across both mainland and greater China.
“China is a major focus for us and whilst new routes are being investigated, increasing our presence on existing strong markets like Singapore - Hong Kong is an important part of our Chinese and Pan Asian strategy,” Ms Chong said.
“These additional Friday and Sunday services are timed to give even more low fare options to weekend leisure travellers and growing business traffic taking advantage of our good prices,” she said.
Jetstar’s Jetsaver Light fares start from SGD158 one way all inclusive available at Jetstar.com or via 800 6161 977 (Singapore). All flights from Singapore depart from Terminal 1 at Singapore Changi International Airport.
