China’s biggest upscale hotel group, Jin Jiang International, has unveiled plans for its first hotel in the ancient city of Kashgar, in the western region of Xinjiang.
Due to open in March 2014, the Yue Xing Jin Jiang International Hotel Kashi will offer 323 rooms and suites, plus restaurants serving Chinese, Japanese and traditional Uighur cuisine, including private dining rooms. There will also be a fitness centre, heated indoor swimming pool, spa, beauty salon, games room, business centre and conference and banqueting space.
“Yue Xing Jin Jiang International Hotel Kashi… will be joining our growing portfolio of properties and expansion towards the northwest China region,” said Simon Zhang, CEO of Jin Jiang International.
“It will be the first Jin Jiang-branded five-star hotel to open in Kashgar, therefore building a strong brand presence in the city. Kashgar is fast becoming a thriving destination attracting a growing number of leisure and business visitors, and our luxury hotel will set the benchmark for top quality services in the region.”
Located close to the borders with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Kashgar is a major Central Asian trading hub and was a key stop on the ancient Silk Road. The new Jin Jiang hotel will become the group’s second property in Xinjiang, following the Jin Jiang International Hotel Urumqi.
Overall, the group now has a collection of approximately 1,460 hotels in more than 230 Chinese cities and towns.
