Kazakhstan’s Bek Air has signed an agreement to purchase seven Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.
The deal was signed at the Farnborough Air Show this week by Bek’s chairman Nurlan Zhumasultanov and Andrey Kalinovsky, president of Russian planemaker Sukhoi.
The agreement will significantly expand Bek’s fleet, which currently comprises six Fokker 100 aircraft. It currently operates 14 domestic routes destinations including Astana, Almaty, Kostanay and Atyrau.
The new Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft will be operated in an all-economy class configuration with seating for 103 passengers. The first three aircraft will be delivered in 2015, with the remaining four arriving in 2016.
Bek is now planning to use the new aircraft to expand its route network in Kazakhstan, as well as establishing new international routes to Russia, Asia and the Middle East.
