Kempinski Hotels is to make its first move into Azerbaijan in September, the host country for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The hotel will be located in the capital of Baku as part of the Badamdar Complex. Its development is part of Kempinski’s expansion into Eastern Europe but will also provide more bed space for the singing competition next year. “Kempinski Hotel Badamdar Baku is an important addition to Kempinski’s fast-growing portfolio of city hotels in Eastern Europe, and further emphasizes our strategy in the region,” said Reto Wittwer, president and CEO of Kempinski. “The new hotel will combine the best of Kempinski’s renowned European flair and highest standards of service, with a keen respect for Azerbaijani culture and traditions.” The hotel chain is to open another property in 2015 named Kempinski Hotel Crescent Baku.
