The plans for the next Kuwait International Airport Development Forum (KIADF) 2013 are underway. The event has already established association with the National Aviation Services (NAS) as the diamond sponsor. The exhibition is scheduled to take place on 8-9 December 2013 at the Kuwait International Fair Ground.
The KIADF is organized by Arabian Reach, under the patronage of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), State of Kuwait, which is planning to spend billions of dollars on upgradation of the infrastructure and facilities of existing airport and construction of a new terminal.
The plan envisages expanding Kuwait airport’s capacity from present six million passengers per year to 13 million passengers per year by 2016, and to turn the airport into a major passenger and cargo hub. The expansion will include a new terminal equipped with the latest technology, widen the runways, enhance the existing control tower and build a new control tower and to set up a new cargo facility. Kuwait Airways has also announced it plans to buy up to 21 new aircraft over the next two years to replace its current old fleet.
