Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium has been removed from the list of host venues for the 2011 Cricket World Cup, after inspection team decided it would not be ready on time. The BBC reported that the West Bengal venue, which was due to host the high profile game between India and England on 27 February, failed a pre-tournament inspection by the International Cricket Council (ICC) last week. An alternative venue is now being sought. The Cricket World Cup, which is spread across venues in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, gets underway on 19 February.
