Etihad Airways has signed a new codeshare agreement with Korean Air.
The partnership, which comes into effect on 22 July 2013, will initially see the Korean national carrier place its ‘KE’ code on Etihad’s services between Seoul’s Incheon International Airport and Abu Dhabi. Members of the two airlines’ loyalty programmes will also be able to earn and redeem points on flights with either carrier, as well as accessing airport lounges.
“The new codeshare with Korean Air… deepens the existing partnership with Korean Air beyond the interline and special prorate agreements inked in August 2009,” said Etihad’s president & CEO, James Hogan.
“Codesharing on the Abu Dhabi-Seoul route will enable the airlines to leverage the strength of their respective brands and distribution channels for mutual commercial and customer benefit,” he added.
Etihad operates daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Seoul using its Airbus A340 aircraft.
