Korean Air has confirmed that it will operate a codeshare with Czech Airlines on flights between Prague and Seoul.
Commencing on 1 June 2013, the Korean national carrier will operate four weekly flights on the route, departing Seoul’s Incheon International Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Czech Airlines meanwhile, will operate the route on Tuesday and Sunday, giving the two carriers a total of six weekly flights on the route. Flight times will be the same for both carriers, and all flights will carry both Korean’s ‘KE’ and Czech’s ‘OK’ code.
Future plans include Czech Airlines adding an additional flight on Thursdays, increasing the frequency to daily fights.
The codeshare is the first such agreement since Korean Air purchased a 44% stake in Czech Airlines earlier this year for EUR2.64 million (US$3.4m). Korean Air currently codeshares on Czech Airlines’ flights from Prague to 17 European cities, including Frankfurt, Rome, Paris and Munich. The two airlines are also both members of the SkyTeam Alliance.
