The Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau is on a high.
The Bureau is expecting this year’s cherry blossom season to attract largest number of nationals from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to date.
From recent statistics, number of Emiratis to visit the city between April to December 2014 increased by 139% compared to 2013. Likewise, Qatari nationals over the same period also increased significantly by 1,135%.
Shuhei Akahoshi, managing director, Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau said: “Since our opening in Dubai, we have seen number of UAE and Qatari nationals visiting Kyoto increase each month. There is certainly increased awareness of our city within the Middle East and efforts are being set to provide detailed information in Arabic about availability of Halal and Muslim-friendly cuisine.”
The cherry blossom season is expected to commence from late March and continue to mid-April.
