Langham Hospitality Group has unveiled a new upscale hotel brand; Cordis Hotels & Resorts.

The Hong Kong-based company said the new “global brand” would comprise a “new generation of curated hotels devoted to the guests’ needs and well-being”.

The Cordis portfolio will include a mix of new-build and conversion hotels, resorts and residences, with the first property expected to launch in Hong Kong this year.

Langham has also signed letters of intent for hotels in a further seven destinations over the next three years, including five hotels in China and one each in Bali and Colombo. Other targeted cities include London, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Orlando, San Francisco, Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok.

“Each Cordis hotel will be individual in style, architecture and design, all of which will be reflective of its location and culture and tailored to the requirements of our guests, from the corporate travellers to honeymooners to multi-generational families,” said Langham’s CEO, Robert Warman.

“For example, Cordis Hong Kong, due to welcome its first guests in May 2015, is vibrant, modern, and will feature family-friendly facilities and amenities that will complement its bustling neighbourhood.”

He added that “the time is right for us to enter high density markets such as North America and… China”.  “We see Cordis as complimentary to our existing portfolio and a real opportunity to have multiple properties in new markets in the coming years,” Warman predicted.

Langham now operates a global portfolio of 29 hotels under its Langham, Eaton and Eaton Smart brands, including 21 operating hotels and eight in the pipeline.
