Paul Verhassk has been appointed chief operating officer at the Visit USA Association. Verhassk has built his career on hotel and resort promotion and is a co-founder of the VUSA and Canada Foundation in the Benelux. He steps into the role following the passing of Alan Waddell.
Heather Egerton has joined City Cruises as business development manager. Egerton comes to the company from UKinbound where she held the role as membership manager. She previously worked for the Youth Hostels Association, German National Tourist Board and Leisure Breaks.
Mark Anderson (pictured) has been named as head of resort sales at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Hotel. Anderson joined the property in mid-2012 from sister Merlin attraction Warwick Castle. In addition Jens Christian Andersen has been appointed operations director at the hotel. Andersen was previously F&B director and has worked for Hilton and Norwegian Cruise Line.
Simon Wakefield has been appointed general manager of The Halkin by COMO. Wakefield returns to the COMO brand from the Athenaeum Hotel and Apartments where he was general manager. He previously worked at COMO’s Belgravia hotel when it opened in 2004.
Hendrick Engel has been named operations director at Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living. Engel joins the hotel from Aviator in Farnborough where he was executive assistant manager. He has also held roles at Nikko Hotel International, Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, The Dorchester Collection, Hilton Hotels and Kempinski.
Peter Anderson has joined the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi as director of group sales Europe. Based in London, Anderson will oversee the MICE and corporate group travel sectors in the UK and Europe. He was previously at The Dorchester Collection.
Didier Le Calvez has been appointed as SVP operations and sales and marketing at the Oetker Collection. Le Calvez is currently president and managing director of Le Bristol Paris but will take on the sales and marketing activities for the collection as well as overseeing its new opening Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France. Philip Perd, president and managing director of Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc and Château Saint-Martin has been made SVP operations and project development. He is overseeing the new L’Apogée Courchevel which will open in December and will supervise future openings.
