Voyages to Antiquity is encouraging its guests to learn something new with its 2017 programme of guest speakers including historians, geologists, wine connoisseurs and astronomy experts.
The cruise line has picked some of the finest minds around to join the 2017 line up to inform and entertain guests on the history, culture and gastronomy of the destinations visited.
Highlights of the 2017 guest speakers programme include:
- The leading glaciologist: Those looking forward to the operator’s inaugural no-fly cruise to Iceland, Faroes & Shetlands next summer will be joined by one of the world’s foremost authorities on geology and glaciology, the environmental scientist Professor David Drewry. The 15-day cruise from London to Iceland departing 29 June 2017.
- The wine guru: Having spent over 40 years in the wine trade and visited dozens of countries in the process, Maggie McNie will bring her vast viticulture knowledge to The Best of France & Portugal trip and help guests enjoy a true taste of the wine regions visited. The 15-day cruise from London to Lisbon departing 22 August 2017.
- The art historian: Author, professor, art gallery director and Art Critic for The Scotsman, Duncan Macmillan has many strings to his creative bow. The prize-winning expert will be on hand to bring the art of Ancient Greece, Sicily & Spain to life. The 18-day cruise from Athens to Seville departs 16 October 2017.
- The space volcanologist: As a planetary geologist and the former Principal Investigator with NASA’s Planetary Geology and Physics Programme, where he studied volcanoes on Mars and Venus, Dr Peter Cattermole will join the Seville, Morocco & Canary Islands cruise helping to provide dramatic insight into Spain’s volcanic activity. The 12-day cruise from Malaga to Tenerife departs 9 November 2017.
