Leger Holidays has announced record sales figures for 2010 with January providing its best ever day for bookings and trade bookings up 45% in February compared to the same time last year.Despite widespread caution throughout the travel industry and extreme bad weather at the beginning of January, the leading coach tour operator has revealed that it is its most positive ever start to a year, with no sign of sales beginning to wane. An expert in escorted European tours for over 25 years, Leger Holidays has launched a number of new tours for 2010 to meet the ever-changing needs of its customers. Its long haul offering for 2010 has been extended with the launch of new once-in-a-lifetime tours within its Grand Explorer brand. The new tours which will take in the best of Canada, New Zealand and Morocco are proving to be a popular addition to its long-haul packages following increasing customer demand for the ultimate experience on an annual break. The popularity of Leger’s leading Battlefields breaks continues to rise with increasing numbers of people looking to re-trace their family history, commemorate world war anniversaries and experience something different on a short break. Seven new Battlefield itineraries have been launched for 2010, including an eight-day Battles in the Holyland tour which explores battles of the First World War right up to more recent Arab-Israeli conflicts.All-inclusive and Extra Value tours are also popular with consumers keen to budget for their break before they go. Ashley Dellow, Head of Retail Sales at Leger Holidays, said: “We have seen a fantastic start to 2010 and with February proving to also be a record month for us there is no sign yet of this trend beginning to wane.”Whilst the bad weather did affect trade bookings at the start of the year it picked up considerably once the snow had melted. January saw our biggest ever day for sales to date and the first week of February saw agent bookings up by more than a third.”With lots of uncertainty around consumer booking habits this year it is extremely positive for agents to see that people are booking holidays and willing to spend money on travelling abroad this year. “In 2010 we have significantly increased investment and resource specifically for agents with increased promotional material, agent incentive schemes, as well as continuing to develop our dedicated trade website. “Whilst we continue to approach 2010 with caution, we are confident that continuing to work closely with agents and evolving our offering to meet the changing needs of our customers will ensure that this positive start to the year continues.
