Wi-Fi through room lights, coffee machines that remember your order and a table that charges devices all could appear in a Best Western hotel room in the future, as the group looks to showcase new technologies.
Best Western GB will show off new technology in four ‘hotel rooms of the future’ to 279 independent hoteliers during its Annual Members Conference in Wales next Tuesday.
This will include LiFi which transmits data using light visible to the human eye (and is currently not commercially available), while smartphone payment and smartphone room access will also be shown at the rooms in Celtic Manor.
Hoteliers will also be able to test entertainment through virtual reality headsets and keyboards that project onto any surface.
“LiFi is the future for the hospitality industry therefore we are delighted to showcase it for the first time. Our Inspiration Hotel reveals what’s just around the corner for guests and hoteliers, so it’s incredibly exciting to bring the future of hospitality to our members,” said Best Western GB’s CEO Richard Lewis.
