Russian planemaker Sukhoi has received certification for the long-range version of its regional aircraft, the Superjet 100.
Moscow’s Interstate Aviation Committee has confirmed the new aircraft’s compliance with the country’s aviation regulations, in a move that will allow Russian airlines to operate the long-range Superjet 100.
“[The] enhanced operations performance of the long-range allows airlines to optimise to its maximum extent usage of this type of aircraft and planning it both for short-haul routes and even longer distances,” said Igor Vinogradov, Sukhoi’s vice president of quality & certification.
The long-range version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 can fly up to 4,578km, compared to 3,048km for the standard version.
Sukhoi expects to deliver the first long-range Superjet 100 to Russian airline Gazpromavia in the third quarter of 2013. The aircraft features an all-economy class layout seating 90 passengers.
