Macau arrivals climb in March

Visitor arrivals to Macau rose 6.7% year-on-year to 2.01 million in Match 2010, the city’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has reported. The former Portuguese colony was boosted by an 8.2% rise in arrivals from mainland China, accounting for approximately half of all arrivals. Visitors from Japan increased 17.6% to 41,815, where there were also an increase in tourists from Hong Kong and Malaysia. Arrivals from Taiwan however, decreased 4% to 114,409. In total, the city saw 6,115,221 in the first quarter of 2010, up 12.1% from the same quarter last year.
