Macau’s casinos raked in a record US$1.5 billion in August, their highest-ever monthly revenue and up more than 17% on the same month last year, according to a South China Morning Post report. The results mark the second consecutive month of year-on-year revenue growth, perhaps heralding the start of a recovery in the long-suffering gaming market. Casinos in the former Portuguese colony raked in MOP11.27 billion (US$1.5 billion) last month, 33% more than the average monthly revenue during the 12 months to July, the report said.
