In a bid to attract Indian more tourists from India, Macau is offering incentives to the first airline to operate direct flights between India and the former Portuguese colony. These include a 50% rebate of landing and passenger fees for the first two years of operations.
In 2009, more than 107,000 Indians travelled to Macau, and the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) and other tourism stakeholders recently visited the Delhi and Mumbai in an effort to tap into the growing source market. While Hong Kong is very well connected from Indian cities, there are no direct air links between Indian and Macau.
