Machu Picchu to reopen to tourists
Machu Picchu will be reopened to tourists at the end of the month. Access to the popular trekking area was closed for safety reasons due to flooding, but the Cultural National Institute of Peru (INC) and Ferrocarril Transandino (FTSA) has announced that the railroad is due to be reopened on the 29th March following an official ceremony.
The Machu Picchu Archaeological Complex, including the citadel, has not suffered any damage and will reopen on 1st April. Parts of the Inca Trail are still unsafe but other trails have not been affected.
