A notorious Sicilian Mafia boss was arrested in London yesterday (7 August) after being found running a travel agency in the capital.
Domenico Rancadore, who has allegedly been living under the name Marco Skinner, had been in London for almost 20 years while running Executive Travel.
The business, which was under his wife’s name, was registered to the couple’s home in Uxbridge, where the arrest took place by detectives last night.
He is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court today.
British newspaper The Guardian quoted the 64-year old’s neighbour, Joan Hills as saying: “I know him very well. He is one of the best neighbours you could ever have. They have been here for years.”
The Italian interior ministry released a statement confirming that Rancadore was a “prominent representative” of the Sicilian mafia. He had been on the run since 1994.
